postcard in my plan to send each other postcards of interesting places to visit:) This time, 25 April I had the pleasure of visiting the house Upton House, with its beautiful gardens.

It is also my first outing as a member of the organization National Trust, which cares for such this house. It deals with nature and preservation of monuments in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

scope of National Trust coastline is 1141 km, 215 houses and gardens , 40 castles, 76 nature reserves, 6 world heritage sites, 12 lighthouses and 43 pubs and inns. As a member of this organization is all I can for a year (after paying a one-time contribution) to visit for free:) Also, this place is not going to end my tour:)

Returning to Upton House ... this house was built in 1695 from the local yellow sandstone.
bought and rebuilt 1927-29 by millionaire Walter Samuel, 2nd Viscount Bearsted, chairman of Shell companies in the years 1921-1946 and son of the founder of this company.
Upton House contains a wonderful collection of old English and European paintings, including the work of Hogarth, Stubbs, Guardi, Canaletto, Brueghel and El Greco.

There is also a magnificent tapestry, a French porcelain, a collection of figurines, XVIII century furniture, and unique art deco bathroom. In one of the rooms is a great pool table, you can use (free of charge:), in the bedroom, you can dress up in costumes of the era, in the living room to sit by the fireplace and play games from the 30-ties.
There is also an exhibition of paintings and posters advertising the Shell from the time of Viscount Bearsted's.

house surrounded by a beautiful green area, which includes lawn with big trees, cedar, below the house there is a spacious garden. In the garden there are flower beds and in a small valley, large lake with water lilies.

It is interesting to add, that in the kitchen belonging to the house in the old kilns, two ladies bake cookies with jam (homemade), which tasting each others visitors (in the kitchen, of course:)

Unfortunately I did not find a postcard on which it would be visible from outside the house and garden, but I can show it in my photos:)
